Not a big story in a game when 6th ranked Sharks (18-14) were outscored by third ranked Flying Leopards (24-7) in Yingkou 105-78 on Wednesday. Flying Leopards dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Sharks' 42. They outrebounded Sharks 60-39 including a 44-25 advantage in defensive rebounds. Flying Leopards looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. It was an exceptional evening for international Zhenlin Zhang (206-1999, college: Tulane) who led the winners and scored 28 points and 5 rebounds. American guard Kyle Fogg (191-1990, college: Arizona) accounted for 13 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals for the winning side. Five Flying Leopards players scored in double figures. American guard Melo Trimble (190-1995, college: Maryland, agency: Pensack Sports) came up with 17 points and the former international center Zhelin Wang (214-1994) added 8 points and 11 rebounds respectively for Sharks in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Defending champion maintains third place with 24-7 record having just three points less than leader Zhejiang GB. Loser Sharks dropped to the seventh position with 14 games lost. Flying Leopards will meet at home Heroes (#5) in the next round. Sharks will play against Jilin Tigers in Changchun and hope to secure a win.
