Regular Season Round 15: FiberXers - Ginebra Kings 101-120

The game in Makati was quite interesting. Third ranked Ginebra Kings (8-2) played at the court of 6th ranked FiberXers (5-4). Ginebra Kings did not have too big problems and got a relatively easy victory 120-101 on Sunday. Ginebra Kings dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to FiberXers' 48. They outrebounded FiberXers 49-33 including a 36-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. Ginebra Kings looked well-organized offensively handing out 35 assists comparing to just 17 passes made by FiberXers' players. 27 personal fouls committed by FiberXers helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for American forward Justin Brownlee (197-1988, college: St.John's) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 28 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists. Naturalized German forward Christian Standhardinger (206-1989, college: Hawaii) contributed with a double-double by scoring 28 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Brownlee is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Guard Maverick Ahanmisi (188-1991, college: Minnesota) answered with 24 points and 8 rebounds and guard Jeron Alvin Teng (190-1994) added 12 points in the effort for FiberXers. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Ginebra Kings have an impressive series of five victories in a row. Defending champion moved-up to second place. FiberXers at the other side keep the sixth position with four games lost. They share it with Meralco Bolts. Ginebra Kings are looking forward to face league's leader TNT Tropang in Makati in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. FiberXers will have a break next round.
