Regular Season Round 14: Rain or Shine - North Port 97-113

Everything could happen in Manila at the game between two tied teams. Both ninth ranked North Port and 10th ranked Rain or Shine had identical 2-6 record. But Rain or Shine was not able to use a home court advantage and was defeated by the opponent from Pasig City 113-97 on Saturday night. North Port looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. 24 personal fouls committed by Rain or Shine helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was American guard Kevin Murphy (197-1990, college: Tenn Tech) who had a double-double by scoring 39 points (!!!), 13 rebounds and 5 assists. Point guard Paul Zamar (180-1987) chipped in 20 points and 5 rebounds. Center Leonard Santillan (195-1996) produced 17 points and 7 rebounds and naturalized American forward Nick Demusis (193-1991, college: Whittier) added 14 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Five North Port and four Rain or Shine players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. North Port maintains ninth position with 3-6 record. Rain or Shine lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the tenth place with seven games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
