Regular Season Round 40: Iwate - Shizuoka 80-66

The biggest surprise took place in Iwate where host Iwate (36-5) beat league's leader Shizuoka (36-5) 80-66 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the nine-game winning streak of Shizuoka. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Iwate had a 17-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. American forward Kristian Doolittle (201-1997, college: Oklahoma, agency: Pensack Sports) fired a double-double by scoring 25 points and 16 rebounds for the winners. Beninese power forward Muusa Dama (207-1996, college: EIU, agency: Blacktop Management) chipped in a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds. Four Iwate players scored in double figures. American center Kenny Lawson (207-1988, college: Creighton) produced a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds and Argentinian forward Alexis Elsener (195-1988, agency: Interperformances) added 10 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for lost side. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Iwate have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with defeated Shizuoka. Shizuoka will have a break next week, which should allow them to rest and make it back to the top of the standings. Iwate will try to continue on its current victory against second ranked Shizuoka at home.
