Regular Season Round 14: Hotshots - Terrafirma Dyip 121-115

No shocking result in a game in Pasig City where sixth ranked Hotshots (6-4) defeated 11th ranked Terrafirma Dyip (2-8) 121-115 on Saturday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Hotshots dominated down low during the game scoring 78 of its points in the paint compared to Terrafirma Dyip's 52. They outrebounded Terrafirma Dyip 61-43 including a 24-11 advantage in offensive rebounds. Hotshots looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists. 29 personal fouls committed by Terrafirma Dyip helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was American Antonio Hester (199-1990, college: Mobile, AL, agency: Rigorer Korea Agency) who had a double-double by scoring 40 points (!!!) and 17 rebounds. Naturalized American forward Calvin Abueva (190-1988) chipped in a double-double by scoring 16 points, 17 rebounds and 4 assists. Hester is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Five Hotshots players scored in double figures. American swingman Jordan Williams (198-1992, college: N.Texas) produced 45 points (!!!), 7 rebounds and 4 assists and guard Juan Tiongson (178-1991) added 19 points and 4 assists respectively for the guests. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Hotshots moved-up to fifth place. Terrafirma Dyip lost sixth consecutive game. They keep the eleventh position with eight games lost. Hotshots are looking forward to face bottom-ranked Blackwater Elite (#12) in Caloocan City in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Terrafirma Dyip will play on the road against Ginebra Kings in Manila and is hoping to prove to their fans that they can break losing series.
