Important game to mention about took place in Quezon. Eighth ranked Phoenix (3-5) saved a 3-point victory at home edging higher ranked FiberXers (5-3) 106-103 on Sunday evening. Strangely FiberXers outrebounded Phoenix 50-37 including 16 on the offensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward DuVaughn Maxwell (201-1991, college: Hampton) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 19 points, 15 rebounds and 5 blocks and guard Encho Serrano (183-1999) who added 28 points during the contest. The best for the losing side was American Jamaal Franklin (196-1991, college: SDSU, agency: Slash Sports) with a double-double by scoring 30 points, 12 rebounds and 7 assists and guard Maverick Ahanmisi (188-1991, college: Minnesota) scored 10 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Phoenix and five FiberXers players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Phoenix maintains eighth position with 3-5 record. FiberXers at the other side keep the fourth place with three games lost. Phoenix will play against Rain or Shine (#10) in Manila in the next round. FiberXers will have a break next round.
