Regular Season Round 11: Meralco Bolts - NLEX RW 114-98

The game between third ranked NLEX RW (5-3) and seventh ranked Meralco Bolts (3-3) was the most important one in the last round on Thursday night. NLEX RW was defeated by Meralco Bolts in Manila 114-98. Meralco Bolts dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to NLEX RW's 38 and made 17-of-21 free shots (81.0 percent) during the game. They outrebounded NLEX RW 51-33 including a 36-25 advantage in defensive rebounds. Meralco Bolts looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists. The best player for the winners was American swingman KJ McDaniels (198-1993, college: Clemson) who had a double-double by scoring 31 points, 21 rebounds and 4 assists. Guard Chris Newsome (187-1990, college: Georgetown, KY) chipped in 18 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists. American Wayne Selden (196-1994, college: Kansas, agency: Slash Sports) produced 29 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists and guard Don Trollano (191-1992) added 19 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Meralco Bolts maintains seventh place with 3-3 record. NLEX RW at the other side dropped to the fourth position with three games lost. Meralco Bolts are looking forward to face higher ranked Hotshots (#6) in Pasig City in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. NLEX RW will play at home against Rain or Shine and is hoping to win this game.
