The game in Manila was also quite interesting. Sixth ranked Hotshots (4-3) played at the court of 8th ranked Rain or Shine (2-4). Hotshots defeated Rain or Shine 112-97 on Wednesday. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Rain or Shine. Hotshots dominated down low during the game scoring 76 of its points in the paint compared to Rain or Shine's 36. They outrebounded Rain or Shine 55-44 including a 41-29 advantage in defensive rebounds. Hotshots looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was a great evening for American Antonio Hester (199-1990, college: Mobile, AL, agency: Rigorer Korea Agency) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 15 rebounds and 5 assists. Point guard Jiovani Jalalon (175-1992) helped adding 19 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Hester is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Five Hotshots players scored in double figures. Center Leonard Santillan (195-1996) responded with 14 points and 7 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) and American Greg Smith (198-1992, college: Colorado St.) scored 15 points. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Hotshots have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain sixth place with 4-3 record. Loser Rain or Shine keeps the eighth position with four games lost. Hotshots will meet at home Meralco Bolts (#7) in the next round. Rain or Shine will play against NLEX RW in Makati City and hope to secure a win.
