Regular Season Round 39: Nagasaki - Kumamoto V. 76-68

The game between closely ranked teams ended with second ranked Nagasaki's (28-13) home victory over 3rd placed Kumamoto V. (23-18) 76-68 on Sunday. It was a great evening for American forward Matt Bonds (196-1995, college: St.Michael's) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists. His fellow American import forward Jeffrey Gibbs (188-1980, college: Otterbein) helped adding 15 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!). The best for the losing side was American center Jamel McLean (202-1988, college: Xavier) with a double-double by scoring 24 points, 15 rebounds and 4 assists and guard Hiroaki Isono (186-1998) scored 12 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Nagasaki. Newly promoted Nagasaki maintains second place with 28-13 record having six points less than leader Chiba. Kumamoto V. lost their third game in a row. They keep the third position with 18 games lost. Nagasaki will meet at home Bambitious N. (#6) in the next round. Kumamoto V. will play against Fukuoka R. and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
