Regular Season Round 37: Yamaguchi - Kagoshima 89-101

Not a big story in a game when 13th ranked Yamaguchi (10-28) was defeated at home by fourth ranked Kagoshima (30-8) 101-89 on Sunday. Kagoshima made 19-of-23 free shots (82.6 percent) during the game. American swingman Anthony Gaines Jr (195-1993, college: LCU) fired a double-double by scoring 44 points (!!!), 10 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. His fellow American import forward Logan Routt (211-1997, college: WVU) chipped in a double-double by scoring 25 points and 11 rebounds (made all of his seven free throws). Jamaican-British center Ryan Richards (212-1991) produced a double-double by scoring 19 points and 13 rebounds and American power forward Michael Phillips (202-1990, college: Howard) added 15 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) respectively for lost side. Five Yamaguchi players scored in double figures. Yamaguchi's coach John Saintignon rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. The victory was the third consecutive win for Kagoshima. They maintain fourth place with 30-8 record. Yamaguchi at the other side keeps the thirteenth position with 28 games lost. They share it with Kanazawa and Tachikawa. Kagoshima are looking forward to face higher ranked Saitama (#3) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Yamaguchi will play against Okayama (#7) and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
