The game between closely ranked teams ended with one of their biggest challengers Kumamoto V.'s (23-17) road loss to second ranked Nagasaki (27-13) 69-83 on Saturday. Nagasaki outrebounded Kumamoto V. 40-28 including 27 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was American forward Matt Bonds (196-1995, college: St.Michael's) who had a double-double by scoring 14 points and 13 rebounds. Guard Kanji Takahira (185-1993) chipped in 20 points. Five Nagasaki players scored in double figures. American guard Terrance Woodbury (201-1987, college: Georgia) produced 18 points (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) and his fellow American import center Jamel McLean (202-1988, college: Xavier) added 9 points and 9 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Nagasaki have a solid three-game winning streak. Newly promoted Nagasaki maintains second position with 27-13 record having six points less than leader Chiba. Loser Kumamoto V. keeps the third place with 17 games lost.
