Regular Season Round 9: Ginebra Kings - SM Beermen 99-102

The most exciting game of round 9 in the PBA took place in Manila. This derby game ended with only three-point home defeat of 5th ranked Ginebra Kings (3-2) to second ranked SM Beermen (7-1) 102-99 on Friday evening. SM Beermen dominated down low during the game scoring 84 of its points in the paint compared to Ginebra Kings' 60. SM Beermen had a 26-15 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a good game for American forward Cameron Clark (201-1991, college: Oklahoma, agency: Slash Sports) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!) and 10 rebounds. Guard Jaymar Perez (188-1993) contributed with 20 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals for the winners. SM Beermen's coach Jorge Gallent used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. Naturalized German forward Christian Standhardinger (206-1989, college: Hawaii) answered with a double-double by scoring 29 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists and American forward Justin Brownlee (197-1988, college: St.John's) added 21 points, 10 rebounds and 9 assists in the effort for Ginebra Kings. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. SM Beermen keeps a position of league leader, which they share with TNT Tropang. Defending champion Ginebra Kings keep the fifth place with two games lost. SM Beermen is looking forward to face league's second-placed TNT Tropang in Makati in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Ginebra Kings will play on the road against Blackwater Elite in Caloocan City and are hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
