Regular Season Round 8: North Port - SM Beermen 132-145

Leader SM Beermen delivered the sixth victory on Wednesday night. This time they beat bottom-ranked North Port (0-5) 145-132 in Pasig City. SM Beermen dominated down low during the game scoring 100 of its points in the paint compared to North Port's 56. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 46 assists comparing to just 17 passes made by North Port's players. Worth to mention a quality performance of American forward Cameron Clark (201-1991, college: Oklahoma, agency: Slash Sports) who helped to win the game recording 44 points (!!!), 9 rebounds and 7 assists (on 20-of-26 shooting from the field) and center June Mar Fajardo (210-1989) who added 29 points and 12 rebounds (on 11-of-13 shooting from the field) during the contest. American guard Kevin Murphy (197-1990, college: Tenn Tech) responded with a double-double by scoring 39 points (!!!) and 13 rebounds and forward Arvin Tolentino (195-1995) scored 32 points and 5 rebounds. Four SM Beermen and five North Port players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. SM Beermen maintains first position with 6-1 record, which they share with TNT Tropang. North Port at the other side still closes the standings with five games lost. SM Beermen's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Manila to the arena Ginebra Kings.
