Regular Season Round 37: Saga B. - Aomori W. 87-85

Third-ranked Aomori W. (18-21) was very close to win a game against first ranked Saga B. (32-7) on Sunday. Saga B. managed to secure only two-point victory 87-85. However their fans expected easier game. Saga B. made 21-of-24 free shots (87.5 percent) during the game. Strangely Aomori W. outrebounded Saga B. 38-25 including a 15-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international forward Takanobu Nishikawa (195-1992) who helped to win the game recording 31 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. American Chase Fieler (202-1992, college: FGCU) contributed with 23 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. Four Saga B. players scored in double figures. American power forward EJ Montgomery (208-1999, college: Kentucky) answered with a double-double by scoring 37 points (!!!) and 14 rebounds and the other American import forward Alex Davis (206-1992, college: Fresno St.) added 15 points, 16 rebounds and 7 assists in the effort for Aomori W.Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Saga B. have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They maintain first place with 32-7 record. Aomori W. lost third consecutive game. They keep the third position with 21 games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Saga B. are looking forward to face Bambitious N. (#6) in Nara in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Aomori W. will have a break next round.
