Regular Season Round 39: Hiroshima D. - Gunma CT 91-99

There was a minor upset when second-best Hiroshima D. (28-10) lost at home to fourth ranked Gunma CT (21-15) 99-91 on Sunday. Gunma CT made 27-of-30 free shots (90.0 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. It was an exceptional evening for American guard Trey McKinney-Jones (198-1990, college: Miami, FL) who led the winners and scored 20 points. Naturalized American forward Michael Parker (202-1981, college: Evergreen St.) accounted for 12 points and 9 rebounds for the winning side. American forward Kerry Blackshear Jr (208-1997, college: Florida) came up with a double-double by scoring 22 points, 13 rebounds and 6 assists (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) and the former international point guard Ryo Terashima (179-1997) added 18 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Hiroshima D. in the defeat. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Gunma CT moved-up to third place which they share with defeated Hiroshima D. Loser Hiroshima D. dropped to the third position with ten games lost. Gunma CT will meet Akita NH (#4) on the road in the next round. Hiroshima D. will play against the league's second-placed Ryukyu GK in Okinawa and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
