Regular Season Round 35: Kagoshima - Gifu 103-71

Everything went according to plan when fourth ranked Kagoshima (28-8) outplayed 8th ranked Gifu (15-21) in Renova 103-71 on Sunday. Kagoshima dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Gifu's 42. Kagoshima forced 22 Gifu turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by Gifu's players. It was an exceptional evening for American swingman Anthony Gaines Jr (195-1993, college: LCU) who led the winners and scored 30 points and 7 rebounds. His fellow American import forward Logan Routt (211-1997, college: WVU) accounted for 20 points and 11 rebounds (on 10-of-11 shooting from the field) for the winning side. American forward Jerrell Wright (204-1991, college: La Salle) came up with a double-double by scoring 15 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists and guard Morito Koga (190-1998) added 13 points respectively for Gifu in the defeat. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Kagoshima maintains fourth place with 28-8 record. Loser Gifu keeps the eighth position with 21 games lost. Kagoshima will meet Yamaguchi (#13) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Gifu will play against Toyoda (#9) in Aichi and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
