Regular Season Round 7: SM Beermen - FiberXers 103-107

The most surprising game was the first loss of SM Beermen (5-1) in Manila on Saturday night. Hosts were defeated by fifth ranked FiberXers (4-1) 107-103. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of SM Beermen. FiberXers made 32-of-41 free shots (78.0 percent) during the game. 32 personal fouls committed by SM Beermen helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of American Jamaal Franklin (196-1991, college: SDSU, agency: Slash Sports) who helped to win the game recording 37 points (!!!), 9 rebounds and 7 assists (made all of his eleven free throws !!!). Guard Alec Stockton (188-1998) contributed with 14 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. American forward Cameron Clark (201-1991, college: Oklahoma, agency: Slash Sports) answered with a double-double by scoring 30 points and 12 rebounds and guard Jaymar Perez (188-1993) added 28 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for SM Beermen. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. FiberXers moved-up to third place, which they share with NLEX RW. SM Beermen at the other side still keeps top position with one game lost. They share it with TNT Tropang. FiberXers will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. SM Beermen will play on the road against North Port in Pasig City and is hoping to win this game.
