Regular Season Round 38: San-en NP - Ryukyu GK 75-82

There was a minor upset in Hamamatsu where their close opponent San-en NP (15-22) was defeated by fourth ranked Ryukyu GK (28-9) 82-75 on Saturday. Ryukyu GK made 17-of-21 free shots (81.0 percent) during the game. Ryukyu GK outrebounded San-en NP 36-25 including 24 on the defensive glass. American power forward Jack Cooley (206-1991, college: Notre Dame, agency: Pensack Sports) had a double-double by scoring 16 points and 17 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import power forward Allen Durham (198-1988, college: Grace Christian) chipped in 17 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists during the contest. Durham is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Five Ryukyu GK players scored in double figures. American center Kyle OQuinn (206-1990, college: Norfolk St., agency: Pensack Sports) responded with a double-double by scoring 24 points, 11 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 blocks (perfect from the field making all eight shots !!!) and point guard Ryusei Sasaki (180-1996) scored 16 points. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Ryukyu GK have an impressive five-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Hiroshima D. Loser San-en NP dropped to the fifth position with 22 games lost. They share it with Kyoto H.. Ryukyu GK will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. San-en NP will play again against Ryukyu GK (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
