Regular Season Round 33: Okayama - Toyoda 83-91

There was a minor upset when 7th ranked Okayama (20-14) was defeated at home by ninth ranked Toyoda (14-20) 91-83 on Sunday. Toyoda outrebounded Okayama 44-26 including a 32-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was Guamanian-American guard Earnest Ross (198-1991, college: Missouri, agency: Haylett Sports) who had a double-double by scoring 31 points, 18 rebounds and 5 assists. German center Yasin Kolo (208-1992, college: Bellarmine) chipped in 9 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Jerome Tillman (201-1987, college: Ohio) who recorded 24 points and 7 rebounds and the other American import power forward DeVaughn Washington (203-1989, college: Ohio, agency: Mansfield and Associates) added 19 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Okayama's coach Kenji Hilke rotated twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Toyoda. They moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Gifu. Okayama at the other side keeps the seventh position with 14 games lost. Toyoda will meet at home higher ranked Yokohama EX (#5) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Okayama will play against Saitama and hope to secure a win.
