Regular Season Round 5: SM Beermen - Hotshots 100-98

Bottom-ranked Hotshots (0-3) is still winless. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. This time they lost on the road their third consecutive match to leader SM Beermen (4-0) 100-98 on Sunday evening. SM Beermen outrebounded Hotshots 49-37 including 37 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. The best player for the winners was American forward Cameron Clark (201-1991, college: Oklahoma, agency: Slash Sports) who had a double-double by scoring 19 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. Naturalized American swingman Marcio Lassiter (190-1987, college: CS Fullerton) chipped in 18 points and 4 assists. Point guard Jiovani Jalalon (175-1992) produced 17 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists and 6 steals and guard Paul Lee (185-1989) added 19 points and 4 assists respectively for the guests. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. SM Beermen have a solid series of four victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with NLEX RW. Loser Hotshots still closes the standings with three games lost. They share the position with North Port and Rain or Shine. SM Beermen's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Manila to the arena Meralco Bolts.
