The game in Gifu was also worth to mention about. Third ranked Saitama (28-6) played at the court of 8th ranked Gifu (14-20). Saitama did not have too big problems and got a relatively easy victory 113-95. Saitama made 30-of-37 charity shots (81.1 percent) during the game. Gifu was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. Nigerian-American power forward Maxie Esho (206-1991, college: UMass) nailed 22 points and 6 rebounds for the winning side and American power forward Ryan Watkins (206-1991, college: Boise St., agency: Slash Sports) accounted for 15 points and 12 rebounds. American forward Jerrell Wright (204-1991, college: La Salle) came up with 35 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds and the other American import forward Noah Dahlman (202-1989, college: Wofford) added 11 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for Gifu in the defeat. Five Saitama and four Gifu players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Saitama have an impressive series of nine victories in a row. They maintain third place with 28-6 record having just two points less than leader Shizuoka. Gifu lost third consecutive game. They keep the eighth position with 20 games lost. They share it with Toyoda. Saitama will play against Okayama (#7) at home in the next round. Gifu will play against Kagoshima in Renova and hopes to get back on the winning track.
