There was a minor upset in Mito where their close opponent Kyoto H. (15-21) was defeated by seventh ranked Ibaraki R. (12-24) 90-75 on Sunday. Ibaraki R. looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. American forward Chehales Tapscott (195-1990, college: Portland St.) fired a double-double by scoring 20 points, 14 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. His fellow American import Eric Jacobsen (208-1994, college: Arizona St.) chipped in a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds. American forward Jarrod Uthoff (203-1993, college: Iowa) produced a double-double by scoring 24 points, 15 rebounds and 4 assists and Mali power forward Cheick Diallo (206-1996, college: Kansas) added 15 points and 7 rebounds respectively for lost side. Four Kyoto H. players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Ibaraki R. moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Sea Horses M. Loser Kyoto H. dropped to the fourth position with 21 games lost. They share it with San-en NP. Ibaraki R. will meet at home Niigata A. (#8) in the next round. Kyoto H. will play against Osaka E. (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
