Regular Season Round 37: Shiga L-Stars - San-en NP 89-84

There was a surprise result when eighth ranked Shiga L-Stars (5-31) defeated at home 4th placed San-en NP (15-21) 89-84 on Sunday. Shiga L-Stars shot the lights out from three sinking 14 long-distance shots on high 51.9 percentage. American forward Kelvin Martin (196-1989, college: Charleston So.) fired a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds for the winners (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). The former international guard Kai Toews (188-1998, college: UNCW) chipped in 13 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. Five Shiga L-Stars players scored in double figures. Shiga L-Stars' coach Luis Guil used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. Kazuki Hosokawa (187-1997) produced 29 points (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) and American center Kyle OQuinn (206-1990, college: Norfolk St., agency: Pensack Sports) added 15 points and 10 rebounds respectively for lost side. Shiga L-Stars maintains eighth place with 5-31 record, which they share with Niigata A. Loser San-en NP keeps the fourth position with 21 games lost. They share it with Kyoto H.. Shiga L-Stars will meet league's leader Kawasaki BT in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. San-en NP will play against Ryukyu GK and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
