Regular Season Round 36: Sendai 89ers - Nagoya DD 74-90

No shocking result in a game when third ranked Nagoya DD (26-9) beat on the road 6th ranked Sendai 89ers (11-24) 90-74 on Saturday. Nagoya DD had a 25-13 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The winners were led by American power forward Scott Eatherton (206-1991, college: Northeastern, agency: BeoBasket) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 27 points and 10 rebounds (on 10-of-11 shooting from the field) and the former international point guard Takumi Saito (172-1995) supported him with 13 points and 9 assists. Five Nagoya DD players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 16 points and 11 rebounds by American forward Justin Burrell (207-1988, college: St.John's) did not help to save the game for Sendai 89ers. Point guard Ryota Kobayashi (178-1991) added 13 points and 6 assists. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Nagoya DD maintains third position with 26-9 record having just five point less than leader Shimane SM, which they share with Ryukyu GK. Newly promoted Sendai 89ers keep the sixth place with 24 games lost. They share the position with Ibaraki R.. Nagoya DD will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Sendai 89ers will play again against Nagoya DD (#3) and hope to secure a win.
