Regular Season Round 36: Niigata A. - Tochigi Brex 64-104

Everything went according to plan when fifth ranked Tochigi Brex (18-17) outplayed on the road 8th ranked Niigata A. (5-30) 104-64 on Saturday. Tochigi Brex dominated down low during the game scoring 44 of its points in the paint compared to Niigata A.'s 22. They outrebounded Niigata A. 46-21 including a 36-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. Tochigi Brex shot the lights out from three sinking 17 long-distance shots on high 65.4 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists comparing to just 15 passes made by Niigata A.'s players. The winners were led by Tongan-New Zealand Isaac Fotu (203-1993, college: Hawaii) who scored that evening 16 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) and the former international power forward Kosuke Takeuchi (206-1985) supported him with 12 points and 14 rebounds. Five Tochigi Brex players scored in double figures. Tochigi Brex's coach felt very confident that he used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. Even 17 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists by American forward Keve Aluma (206-1998, college: Virginia Tech, agency: Pensack Sports) did not help to save the game for Niigata A.. Point guard Reon Shibuta (175-1998) added 11 points and 5 assists. Defending champion maintains fifth position with 18-17 record, which they share with FE Nagoya. Niigata A. lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the eighth place with 30 games lost. Tochigi Brex will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Niigata A. will play again against Tochigi Brex (#5) and hope to secure a win.
