Regular Season Round 36: Shimane SM - Hokkaido L. 101-96

Very predictable result when first ranked Shimane SM (28-7) won against at home 8th ranked Hokkaido L. (8-27) 101-96 on Saturday. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The winners were led by American forward Perrin Buford (198-1994, college: MTSU, agency: Pensack Sports) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 41 points (!!!), 13 rebounds and 7 assists and Australian Nick Kay (206-1992, college: MSU Denver) supported him with 16 points and 8 rebounds. Even 31 points and 7 rebounds by American-Finnish forward Alex Murphy (206-1993, college: Northeastern) did not help to save the game for Hokkaido L.. The former international guard Ryoma Hashimoto (178-1988) added 14 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists. Four Shimane SM and five Hokkaido L. players scored in double figures. Hokkaido L.'s coach Kenichi Sako tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Shimane SM have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 28-7 record. Loser Hokkaido L. keeps the eighth place with 27 games lost. Shimane SM will again meet at home Hokkaido L. (#8) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Hokkaido L. will have a break next round.
