Regular Season Round 31: Gifu - Veertien Mie 84-87

A very close game took place in Gifu between Veertien Mie and Gifu. Twelfth ranked Veertien Mie (10-22) got a very close victory on the road over higher ranked Gifu (14-18). Veertien Mie managed to escape with a 3-point win 87-84 on Sunday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Gifu. Veertien Mie shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 54.5 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The game was dominated by American players. It was a great evening for guard Tucker Haymond (198-1994, college: W.Michigan) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!), 7 rebounds and 12 assists. Eugene Artison (206-1995, college: USAO, agency: One Motive Sports) helped adding 19 points and 8 rebounds. At the losing side forward Jerrell Wright (204-1991, college: La Salle) responded with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 10 rebounds and forward Noah Dahlman (202-1989, college: Wofford) produced a double-double by scoring 10 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Gifu's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Veertien Mie moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Kanazawa. Gifu at the other side keeps the eighth position with 18 games lost. Veertien Mie will meet at home bottom-ranked Shinagawa (#16) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Gifu will play against Saitama (#3) having rather not much hope for a victory.
