Regular Season Round 33: Ibaraki R. - Nagoya DD 73-77
Date: January 22, 2023
Rather expected game in Mito where 6th ranked Ibaraki R. (10-22) was defeated by third ranked Nagoya DD (24-8) 77-73 on Sunday. American forward Coty Clarke (201-1992, college: Arkansas) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 27 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and American-Filipino guard Ray Parks (193-1993, agency: BIG) chipped in 14 points and 10 rebounds (went 10 for 10 at the free throw line !!!). The best for the losing side was American forward Chehales Tapscott (195-1990, college: Portland St.) with 16 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and the other American import Eric Jacobsen (208-1994, college: Arizona St.) scored 10 points and 9 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Ibaraki R.'s coach Richard Glesmann gave the chance to play for ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Nagoya DD. They maintain third place with 24-8 record having four points less than leader Yokohama BC. Ibaraki R. lost their third game in a row. They keep the sixth position with 22 games lost. Nagoya DD will meet at home Shinshu BW (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Ibaraki R. will play against Sea Horses M. in Kariya and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
