Regular Season Round 32: Shiga L-Stars - Shimane SM 80-108

Very expected game when 8th ranked Shiga L-Stars (4-27) were crushed at home by second ranked Shimane SM (24-7) 108-80 on Saturday. Shimane SM outrebounded Shiga L-Stars 40-22 including a 27-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three sinking 19 long-distance shots on high 55.9 percentage. Shimane SM looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists. The best player for the winners was American forward Perrin Buford (198-1994, college: MTSU, agency: Pensack Sports) who had a double-double by scoring 16 points, 8 rebounds and 11 assists. Australian Nick Kay (206-1992, college: MSU Denver) chipped in a double-double by scoring 18 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists. Spanish center David Doblas (208-1981) produced 16 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals and American forward Kelvin Martin (196-1989, college: Charleston So.) added 9 points and 10 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Five Shimane SM and four Shiga L-Stars players scored in double figures. Shiga L-Stars' coach Luis Guil gave up on the game allowing to play twelve players seeing no chance for a win. Shimane SM maintains second position with 24-7 record having just three points less than leader Yokohama BC. Shiga L-Stars lost fourteenth consecutive game. They keep the eighth place with 27 games lost. Shimane SM will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Shiga L-Stars will play again against the league's second-placed Shimane SM (#2) and hope to secure a win.
