Regular Season Round 31: Sendai 89ers - Akita NH 65-93

Rather expected game when 7th ranked Sendai 89ers (8-22) were smashed at home by fourth ranked Akita NH (15-15) 93-65 on Wednesday. Akita NH looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists comparing to just 15 passes made by Sendai 89ers' players. American players dominated the game. It was an exceptional evening for center Steve Zack (211-1992, college: La Salle) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Stanton Kidd (202-1992, college: Colorado St.) accounted for 14 points for the winning side. Four Akita NH players scored in double figures. Forward Justin Burrell (207-1988, college: St.John's) came up with 16 points and 5 rebounds and Nathan Boothe (206-1994, college: Toledo) added 13 points and 5 rebounds respectively for Sendai 89ers in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Akita NH maintains fourth place with 15-15 record. Sendai 89ers lost eighth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keep the seventh position with 22 games lost. Akita NH will meet at home Osaka E. (#6) in the next round. Sendai 89ers will play against Toyama G. and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
