Regular Season Round 16: Eneos S. - Denso I. 71-70

The most exciting game of round 16 in the WJBL took place in Kashiwa. This derby game ended with only one-point defeat on the road of higher ranked Denso I. (11-3) to eighth ranked Eneos S. (8-6) 71-70 on Sunday evening. Strangely Denso I. outrebounded Eneos S. 39-27 including 29 on the defensive glass. 24 personal fouls committed by Denso I. helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international forward Moeko Nagaoka (183-1993) who helped to win the game recording 19 points and 7 rebounds and the former international Saori Miyazaki (167-1995) who added 18 points during the contest. At the losing side the former international center Akaho Himawari (184-1998) responded with a double-double by scoring 12 points, 14 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 blocks and the former international center Maki Takada (185-1989) scored 12 points and 8 rebounds. Four Denso I. players scored in double figures. Eneos S. moved-up to seventh place. Denso I. at the other side dropped to the fourth position with three games lost. Eneos S. are looking forward to face bottom-ranked Himeji E. (#14) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Denso I. will play against Yamanashi QB (#12) and is hoping to win this game.
