Regular Season Round 27: Iwate - Okayama 85-52
Date: January 15, 2023
No shocking result in a game when second ranked Iwate (24-4) crushed at home 6th ranked Okayama (17-11) 85-52. Iwate made 19-of-23 charity shots (82.6 percent) during the game. Iwate outrebounded Okayama 47-22 including a 34-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great evening for Beninese power forward Muusa Dama (207-1996, college: EIU, agency: Blacktop Management) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds. American power forward Gerald Beverly (202-1993, college: Daemen) helped adding 13 points and 11 rebounds (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!). Five Iwate players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American swingman Andrew Robinson (201-1996, college: Coppin St.) with 12 points and 5 rebounds and point guard Kaiki Hojoh (173-2000) scored 9 points and 4 assists. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Iwate have an impressive series of eight victories in a row. They maintain second place with 24-4 record having just two points less than leader Shizuoka, which they share with Kagoshima. Okayama lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the seventh position with 11 games lost. Iwate will play against Veertien Mie (#11) in Yokkaichi in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Okayama will play at home against Tokyo Utd (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
