Very significant was Cathay Life's (#2, 3-1) victory against 4th ranked Chunghwa Telecom (0-4) 66-49. Cathay Life forced 19 Chunghwa Telecom turnovers and outrebounded them 36-25 including 27 on the defensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. Cathay Life brought some defensive toughness making 8 blocks. The winners were led by the former international Wei-An Chen (177-1995) who scored that evening 20 points, 5 assists and 4 steals and the former international forward Ya-En Han (180-1995) supported her with 14 points and 6 assists. Even 10 points and 6 rebounds by Shi-Zan Xu did not help to save the game for Chunghwa Telecom. The former international power forward Hsiang-Ting Huang (180-1993) added 8 points for lost side. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Defending champion maintains second position with 3-1 record behind leader Taiyuan T. Chunghwa Telecom at the other side still closes the standings with four games lost. Cathay Life will play against Taipower (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Chunghwa Telecom will play against the league's leader Taiyuan Textile and hopes to get finally their first victory.
