Regular Season Round 28: Shandong H. - Guangsha L. 109-85

There was a small surprise when tenth ranked Heroes (14-11) rolled over 7th ranked Guangsha Lions (14-12) in Jinan 109-85 on Wednesday. Heroes made 22-of-26 free shots (84.6 percent) during the game. They also forced 22 Guangsha Lions turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 32 assists. The winners were led by American forward Troy Gillenwater (205-1988, college: NM State) who scored that evening 30 points and 6 rebounds (made all of his seven free throws) and the former international center Hanlin Tao (208-1991) supported him with 17 points and 8 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Even 24 points, 8 assists and 4 steals by the former international guard Minghui Sun (187-1996) did not help to save the game for Guangsha Lions. The former international center Jinqiu Hu (211-1997) added 16 points and 6 rebounds for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Heroes moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Xinjiang FT and Nanjing TX MK. Loser Guangsha Lions dropped to the tenth position with 12 games lost. Heroes will meet bottom-ranked Rockets (#20) in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Guangsha Lions will play against Eagles (#14) in Qingdao and hope to secure a win.
