Regular Season Round 30: Ryukyu GK - Shimane SM 80-81

The most exciting game of round 30 in the B1 League took place in Okinawa. This derby game ended with only one-point home defeat of one of their biggest challengers Ryukyu GK (21-8) to second ranked Shimane SM (23-6) 81-80 in the game for the second place. Strangely Ryukyu GK outrebounded Shimane SM 45-32 including 32 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was American forward Perrin Buford (198-1994, college: MTSU, agency: Pensack Sports) who had a double-double by scoring 29 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists. The former international guard Seiya Ando (184-1992) chipped in 25 points. At the other side the best for losing team was American power forward Allen Durham (198-1988, college: Grace Christian) who recorded a double-double by scoring 21 points and 12 rebounds and his fellow American import power forward Jack Cooley (206-1991, college: Notre Dame, agency: Pensack Sports) added 17 points and 15 rebounds respectively. Four Ryukyu GK players scored in double figures. Ryukyu GK's coach Dai Oketani rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Shimane SM have an impressive nine-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 23-6 record having just six point less than leader Hiroshima D., which they share with Alvark Tokyo. Ryukyu GK at the other side keeps the third place with eight games lost. They share the position with Nagoya DD. Shimane SM is looking forward to face Nagoya DD (#3) at home in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Ryukyu GK will play against FE Nagoya and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
