Regular Season Round 14: Niigata R. - Toyota BSR 55-92

There was no surprise in Tokyo where 13th ranked Niigata R. (2-10) was crushed by fourth ranked Toyota BSR (10-4) 92-55 on Sunday. Toyota BSR dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Niigata R.'s 30 and made 18-of-21 free shots (85.7 percent) during the game. Toyota BSR forced 23 Niigata R. turnovers and outrebounded them 39-21 including 16 on the offensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. The former international center Miyuki Kawamura (185-1994) scored 17 points and 6 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the former international Yuki Kato (179-1997) chipped in 17 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. Forward Nishitarumizu Misakura (170-1998) responded with 13 points and guard Nakamura Hana (172-2003) scored 11 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Toyota BSR have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain fourth position with 10-4 record. Niigata R. lost third consecutive game. They keep the thirteenth place with ten games lost. Toyota BSR will meet Aishin AW (#9) in the next round where they are favorite. Niigata R. will play against Fujitsu RW (#6) in Kawasaki and hope to secure a win.
