Regular Season Round 25: Veertien Mie - Yamaguchi 92-94

A very close game took place in Yokkaichi between Yamaguchi and Veertien Mie. Fourteenth ranked Yamaguchi (8-18) got a very close victory on the road over 11th ranked Veertien Mie (9-17). Yamaguchi managed to escape with a 2-point win 94-92 on Sunday evening. Jamaican-British center Ryan Richards (212-1991) fired a double-double by scoring 28 points and 20 rebounds for the winners. Point guard Rikiya Yamaguchi (180-1996) chipped in 16 points and 4 assists. American guard Tucker Haymond (198-1994, college: W.Michigan) produced 33 points (!!!) and 4 assists and the other American import forward Josh Martin (201-1995, college: Santa Clara) added 12 points and 14 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Yamaguchi moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with Toyoda and Shanan Utd. Newly promoted Veertien Mie dropped to the tenth position with 17 games lost. They share it with Kanazawa. Yamaguchi will meet at home higher ranked Yokohama EX (#5) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Veertien Mie will play against Kagoshima (#3) having rather not much hope for a victory.
