Regular Season Round 29: Shimane SM - Ibaraki R. 82-78
Date: January 8, 2023
Very expected game when 6th ranked Ibaraki R. (9-19) lost on the road to second ranked Shimane SM (22-6) 82-78 on Sunday. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Shimane SM made 22-of-29 free shots (75.9 percent) during the game, while Ibaraki R. only scored six points from the stripe. American forward Perrin Buford (198-1994, college: MTSU, agency: Pensack Sports) nailed 26 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists for the winning side and Australian Nick Kay (206-1992, college: MSU Denver) accounted for 25 points and 16 rebounds. American forward Chehales Tapscott (195-1990, college: Portland St.) came up with 20 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and swingman Hayato Yamaguchi (194-1998) added 17 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Ibaraki R. in the defeat. Ibaraki R.'s coach Richard Glesmann rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. The victory was the eighth consecutive win for Shimane SM. They maintain second place with 22-6 record having just six point less than leader Hiroshima D., which they share with Alvark Tokyo. Loser Ibaraki R. keeps the sixth position with 19 games lost. Shimane SM will meet Ryukyu GK (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Ibaraki R. will play against Gunma CT and hope to secure a win.
