Regular Season Round 24: Veertien Mie - Yamaguchi 96-82

Everything could happen in Yokkaichi at the game between two tied teams. Both eleventh ranked Veertien Mie and 14th ranked Yamaguchi had identical 8-17 record. This time Veertien Mie used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from Yamaguchi 96-82 on Saturday night. Veertien Mie forced 19 Yamaguchi turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Tucker Haymond (198-1994, college: W.Michigan) who helped to win the game recording 33 points (!!!) and the other American import forward Josh Martin (201-1995, college: Santa Clara) who added 14 points and 12 rebounds during the contest. Veertien Mie's coach Masao Kuda used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. The best for the losing side was guard Doi Hikaru (189-1998) with 18 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists and American power forward Michael Phillips (202-1990, college: Howard) scored 17 points and 6 rebounds. Four Yamaguchi players scored in double figures. Veertien Mie (9-17) moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Kanazawa. Loser Yamaguchi dropped to the twelfth position with 18 games lost. They share it with Toyoda and Shanan Utd. Veertien Mie will again meet at home Yamaguchi (#13) in the next round. Yamaguchi will have a break next round.
