Very expected game when 17th ranked Blue Whales (6-17) lost to fourth ranked Ducks (16-7) in Beijing 77-91 on Friday. It was a great shooting night for Ducks especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 53.3 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Israeli-American forward TJ Leaf (208-1997, college: UCLA) nailed a double-double by scoring 20 points and 12 rebounds for the winning side and the former international point guard Shuo Fang (189-1990) accounted for 24 points and 7 assists. Five Ducks players scored in double figures. American point guard Marlain Veal (175-1996, college: SE Louisiana) came up with a double-double by scoring 25 points, 8 rebounds and 10 assists and point guard Tangwen Yuan (184-2000) added 20 points respectively for Blue Whales in the defeat. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Ducks have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain fourth place with 16-7 record. Blue Whales at the other side keep the seventeenth position with 17 games lost. Ducks will meet Monkey Kings (#7) in the next round. Blue Whales will play against Pioneers (#18) in Tianjin and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
