Regular Season Round 4: Kofer Yoba - Al Riyadi 61-86
Date: January 6, 2023
Another interesting game for Al Riyadi (2-2) which played in Irbid against Kofer Yoba (1-3). Fourth ranked Al Riyadi crushed hosts 86-61. Al Riyadi forced 19 Kofer Yoba turnovers and outrebounded them 47-34 including 32 on the defensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American swingman Brandon Spearman (191-1991, college: Hawaii) who helped to win the game recording 21 points and 5 assists and the former international center Yousef Abuwazaneh (201-1993) who added 16 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. Spearman is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas. Four Al Riyadi players scored in double figures. At the losing side American guard DeCardo Day (196-1998, college: Alabama St.) responded with 22 points and 6 rebounds and Ghazi Al-Salah (-2000) scored 15 points and 6 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Al Riyadi moved-up to third place, which they share with Al Jubaiha. Kofer Yoba lost third consecutive game. They keep the fifth position with three games lost. Al Riyadi will play against bottom-ranked Al Ashrafiyah (#6) in the next round. Kofer Yoba will play against the league's second-placed Al Ahli in Amman to get more than just one victory in their record.
