Regular Season Round 25: Nanjing TX MK - Fujian S. 115-110
Date: January 6, 2023
Not a big story in a game when 19th ranked Sturgeons (3-20) lost to eighth ranked Monkey Kings (13-10) in Jiangsu 110-115 on Friday. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Monkey Kings made 29-of-32 free shots (90.6 percent) during the game. Monkey Kings outrebounded Sturgeons 51-40 including 20 on the offensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. American point guard QJ Peterson (183-1994, college: VMI) nailed 42 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds (made all of his eight free throws) for the winning side and South Sudanese-Australian center Jo Lual-Acuil Jr (213-1994, college: Baylor) accounted for 19 points, 16 rebounds and 4 blocks. Four Monkey Kings players scored in double figures. Bulgarian-American point guard Darius Adams (188-1989, college: Indianapolis) came up with 30 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists and the former international Linjian Chen (197-1993) added 24 points and 5 rebounds respectively for Sturgeons in the defeat. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Monkey Kings moved-up to seventh place. Sturgeons at the other side keep the nineteenth position with 20 games lost. Monkey Kings will meet at home higher ranked Ducks (#4) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Sturgeons will have a break next round.
