No shocking result in a game when first ranked Hiroshima D. (21-5) defeated on the road 7th ranked Sendai 89ers (8-18) 84-72 on Monday. Hiroshima D. made 21-of-25 free shots (84.0 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. It was a great evening for American forward Dwayne Evans (201-1992, college: St.Louis, agency: Pensack Sports) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 12 rebounds and 7 assists. His fellow American import forward Kerry Blackshear Jr (208-1997, college: Florida) helped adding 13 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Hiroshima D. players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American forward Justin Burrell (207-1988, college: St.John's) with 17 points and 5 assists and point guard Taiki Okada (176-1999) scored 21 points. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Hiroshima D.. They maintain first place with 21-5 record. Sendai 89ers lost their fourth game in a row. Newly promoted team keep the seventh position with 18 games lost. Hiroshima D. will meet at home San-en NP (#5) in the next round. Sendai 89ers will play against Gunma CT and hope to secure a win.
