There was a small surprise in Jinjiang where nineteenth ranked Sturgeons (3-18) beat 16th ranked Royal Fighters (8-12) 111-100 on Monday. Sturgeons forced 24 Royal Fighters turnovers and had a 17-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. The best player for the winners was Bulgarian-American point guard Darius Adams (188-1989, college: Indianapolis) who scored 36 points (!!!), 9 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals. Australian-South Sudanese center Thon Maker (216-1997) chipped in 23 points and 9 rebounds. The former international center Changdong Yu (206-1991) produced a double-double by scoring 16 points and 12 rebounds (perfect from the field making all six shots) and American point guard Trae Golden (189-1991, college: Georgia Tech) added 17 points and 10 assists respectively for the guests. Five Royal Fighters players scored in double figures. Sturgeons maintains nineteenth place with 3-18 record. Royal Fighters lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the sixteenth position with 12 games lost. Sturgeons will meet higher ranked Flying Leopards (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Royal Fighters' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Beijing to the arena Ducks.
