There was a minor upset when 5th ranked Akita NH (10-14) was defeated at home by eighth ranked Ibaraki R. (7-17) 83-73 on Wednesday. Ibaraki R. looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American Eric Jacobsen (208-1994, college: Arizona St.) who helped to win the game recording 15 points and 7 assists and the other American import forward Chehales Tapscott (195-1990, college: Portland St.) who added 14 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. Ibaraki R.'s coach Richard Glesmann used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. The best for the losing side was American center Steve Zack (211-1992, college: La Salle) with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 16 rebounds and the former international swingman Takatoshi Furukawa (190-1987) scored 18 points. Five Akita NH players scored in double figures. Ibaraki R. moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Hokkaido L. Akita NH lost third consecutive game. They keep the fifth position with 14 games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Ibaraki R. will meet at home Shiga L-Stars (#8) in the next round.
