Not a big story in a game in Dongguan where 19th ranked Sturgeons (2-16) were rolled over by third ranked Guandong Tigers (14-3) 124-103 on Monday. Guandong Tigers dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Sturgeons' 42 and made 20-of-25 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Sturgeons 47-35 including 36 on the defensive glass. Guandong Tigers looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists comparing to just 15 passes made by Sturgeons' players. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Guandong Tigers made 7 blocks. The best player for the winners was American MarShon Brooks (197-1989, college: Providence) who scored 30 points, 6 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals. The former international power forward Jianlian Yi (212-1987) chipped in 20 points and 9 rebounds. Four Guandong Tigers players scored in double figures. Bulgarian-American point guard Darius Adams (188-1989, college: Indianapolis) produced a double-double by scoring 50 points (!!!), 11 rebounds and 6 assists (was perfect 13-for-13 from the free throw line !!!) and Yichao Huang (196-1992) added 20 points (perfect from the field making all six shots) respectively for the guests. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Guandong Tigers have an impressive nine-game winning streak. Defending champion moved-up to second place. Sturgeons lost sixth consecutive game. They keep the nineteenth position with 16 games lost. Guandong Tigers will meet Jilin Tigers (#11) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Sturgeons will play against Blue Whales (#17) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
