There was no surprise in Tokyo where 13th ranked Niigata R. (1-7) was defeated by eighth ranked Aishin AW (5-5) 60-52 on Sunday. Aishin AW held Niigata R. to an opponent 25.0 percent shooting from the field compared to 35.9 percent accuracy of the winners. They outrebounded Niigata R. 53-38 including a 31-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. June Mineharu (171-1999) had a double-double by scoring 19 points and 13 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and point guard CaiDeng Sakai (164-1995) chipped in 8 points, 6 rebounds and 10 assists during the contest. Aishin AW's coach Hideki Umezaki used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side Naomi Kitagawa (174-1994) responded with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 11 rebounds and forward Nishitarumizu Misakura (170-1998) scored 13 points and 9 rebounds. Aishin AW have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain eighth position with 5-5 record. Niigata R. lost seventh consecutive game. They keep the thirteenth place with seven games lost. Aishin AW will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Niigata R. will play against Chanson V-M (#6) and hope to win that game.
