There was a minor upset when their close opponent Kyoto H. (8-14) lost on the road to seventh ranked Toyama G. (5-17) 91-75 on Saturday. Toyama G. outrebounded Kyoto H. 39-26 including a 30-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. American center Joshua Smith (208-1992, college: Georgetown) notched a double-double by scoring 26 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists to lead the effort and the other American import forward Brice Johnson (206-1994, college: UNC) supported him with 17 points and 8 rebounds. Four Toyama G. players scored in double figures. Even 23 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals by American forward Novar Gadson (201-1989, college: Rider) did not help to save the game for Kyoto H.. Mali power forward Cheick Diallo (206-1996, college: Kansas) added 13 points and 8 rebounds for lost side. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Toyama G. maintains seventh position with 5-17 record. Loser Kyoto H. dropped to the sixth place with 14 games lost. They share the position with Sendai 89ers. Toyama G. will again meet at home Kyoto H. (#7) in the next round. Kyoto H. will have a break next round.
