Regular Season Round 22: Ibaraki R. - Tochigi Brex 79-67

There was a small surprise when eighth ranked Ibaraki R. (6-16) won against 5th ranked Tochigi Brex (10-12) in Mito 79-67 on Saturday. Ibaraki R. made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. American Eric Jacobsen (208-1994, college: Arizona St.) notched a double-double by scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds (made all of his eight free throws) to lead the effort and the other American import forward Chehales Tapscott (195-1990, college: Portland St.) supported him with 16 points and 4 assists. Four Ibaraki R. players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 13 points and 11 rebounds by American power forward Josh Scott (208-1993, college: Colorado, agency: Pensack Sports) did not help to save the game for Tochigi Brex. Tongan-New Zealand Isaac Fotu (203-1993, college: Hawaii) added 17 points for lost side. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Ibaraki R. moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Hokkaido L. Tochigi Brex lost fourth consecutive game. Defending champion dropped to the fourth position with 12 games lost. They share it with Sea Horses M. and Akita NH. Ibaraki R. will again meet at home higher ranked Tochigi Brex (#5) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Tochigi Brex will have a break next round.
