We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams when twelfth ranked Sharks (7-6) defeated 11th ranked Guangsha Lions (7-8) in Shanghai 110-94 on Sunday. Sharks made 17-of-18 free shots (94.4 percent) during the game. Sharks outrebounded Guangsha Lions 58-37 including a 37-25 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 33 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Sharks made 7 blocks. It was an exceptional evening for the former international center Zhelin Wang (214-1994) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 16 rebounds and 5 assists. Zheng Liu (192-1990) accounted for 20 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists for the winning side. Sharks' coach used entire bench and allowed the starting five to get some rest. The former international guard Minghui Sun (187-1996) came up with 20 points, 7 rebounds and 9 assists and Canadian power forward Kyle Wiltjer (206-1992, college: Gonzaga) added 18 points and 5 rebounds respectively for Guangsha Lions in the defeat. Five Sharks and four Guangsha Lions players scored in double figures. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for Sharks. They moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Shenzhen L. Loser Guangsha Lions dropped to the thirteenth position with eight games lost. Sharks will meet higher ranked Jiangsu Dragons (#7) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Guangsha Lions will play against Loongs (#4) in Taiyuan and hope to secure a win.
